The President of Pixar himself, Ed Catmull, gave us an idea of what the studio's future will be like and their plans involving both original films and sequels... At a time when several are very concerned about their current and future endeavors...

Monsters University inevitably was a big hit on its opening weekend since, you know, it's a Pixar film. So did this college-set prequel do amazing business? Well, sort of...

Stuck in development hell for many years, highly secretive at one time and constantly delayed, DreamWorks' B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations has gone full steam ahead... You could say the film was truly a ghost!
Well, we finally got the first trailer for Reel FX's debut theatrical animated feature film Free Birds, formerly known as Turkeys...
Despite the competent animation and the irreverent tone (which I particularly liked), I'm just not really impressed. Seems like it is what I feared it would be... I just don't like the whole plot. I mean, turkeys going back in time to stop people from eating turkey for Thanksgiving? Then again, why would a big mainstream animated film be a thinly-veiled 90-minute PETA video saying "Don't eat turkey"? I'm certain the writers will pull off something unexpected with this concept, but right now I'm just not feeling it.
What's your take on this trailer and the film itself?

For many decades, it seemed that Disney would remain unchallenged in the world of animated feature-length film production... Times certainly have changed!

Not too long after Disney and Fox announced the upcoming slates for their animation studios, Columbia has now secured two dates for Sony Pictures Animation: September 23, 2016 and September 22, 2017. I pretty much saw this coming, since Sony always nabs the late September spot for their films.
If you ask me, the 2016 film should be Popeye. No way that film comes out in 2015, since Sony has two films coming out that year: The Smurfs 3 and Hotel Transylvania. There's a possibility that they may do 3 films a year, but for now, I think Popeye should be the 2016 film. As for the 2017 film? It could be anything... The fan of original ideas in me hopes it's Doug Sweetland's The Familiars (he's currently directing Storks for Warner Bros. Animation), but it'll probably be a sequel or a film based on a well-known property. The studio has been rather gung ho about the likes of ALF and Manimal...
What do you think the 2016 and 2017 films will be?

Disney has once again changed their upcoming slate, but this change doesn't affect releases from Walt Disney Animation Studios or Pixar. The details are here thanks to Box Office Mojo and /Film...
Surprise, surprise! Disney has kindly told us on the Facebook page for Frozen that the film's teaser is coming in 5 days! Yep, we all knew it would be attached to Monsters University, and now we're finally going to see it a few days before Pixar's college prequel bows in theaters.
From what I've heard, this teaser won't feature the lead characters. This implies that it'll feature the two sidekicks, Kristoff's reindeer Sven and the hapless snowman Olaf. Whatever is shown, I hope it's funny and I also hope that we get a good look at the film's art direction.
Are you ready for awesomeness? I know I can't wait to see what it looks like!

It looks like 20th Century Fox is taking cues from Disney, who had recently announced release dates for four untitled Pixar films and four untitled Walt Disney Animation Studios films. That list went all the way up to November 2018! Now, 20th Century Fox has unveiled their upcoming slate for their two animation studios, and that one goes up to December 2018!

Time and time again I've stated my views on what Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has been doing... I've complained endlessly about the fact that they are packaging the non-Diamond Edition animated classics with their direct-to-video sequels. I've ranted about the treatment that certain films get on the format and countless other things...
