Not Quite...

I happened to catch this little animated film that came out at the end of the spring. It came and went, and it seemed like it would either be great or mediocre from the trailers. Yes... Epic...

Farewell, Mr. Kahrs

Yesterday certainly was something of a downer day for Disney news: First, it was officially confirmed that Bob Peterson was kicked off of his Pixar film, The Good Dinosaur. Second, John Kahrs has now left Walt Disney Animation Studios...

The Maturing Phase

Yesterday, the animation community was struck by a rather troubling rumor that may very well be true. It seemed that another Pixar production had to go through a director change, always a rocky thing in the world of feature animation. Pixar had done this twice in the last 3 years, to two films - Cars 2 and Brave. Many viewers and critics were indifferent to those two films, and if Brave got positive reception, the reviewers would still say it wasn't up to "Pixar standards". You immediately heard about Pixar's "decline" and people shouting from the rooftops that the "Golden Boy" of animation was no longer golden.

I asked this question last summer... Are we going through a new Disney Renaissance? Or not? At the time, I felt... Yes. We are, and that it started with The Princess and the Frog. That was then, what do I think now?

'Book of Life'... The Next 'Rango'?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Book of Life, an upcoming computer animated film from the Dallas-based Reel FX Creative Studios, will be the next Rango...

A Giant Movie

Leave it to Brendon Connelly at Bleeding Cool to get details on upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios films. He got some details on Zootopia before a title was even announced, along with several other things. Today, he got some information on one of their four upcoming releases... Giants.

Full scenes in animated films as trailers? Yes, this is something that I believe should be done with more animated films...

D23 Live

Alright, just like my CinemaCon and Comic-Con posts this year, I'll be talking about some big happenings this weekend while they are happening... You know... The D23 Expo!

Confidential Disney

Weeks ago, we got a really good serving of information surrounding Walt Disney Animation Studios' upcoming slate. Taking cues from Pixar's past, Walt Disney Animation Studios has become more secretive whilst getting the word out there that they have secured release dates for many of their upcoming projects. Last month, we found out about four films that were going to follow 2014's Big Hero 6, their ambitious adaptation of the Marvel comic. We were told that the first of the four films would hit theaters in March 2016, and the last would arrive in November of 2018.

Critics Watch: "Planes" Is Grounded

Looks like Planes, DisneyToon Studios' spin-off of the Cars franchise, doesn't soar at all...

A Piece to the Puzzle?

The Pixar Times put up a great article on Andrew Stanton's recent words on the follow-up to his 2003 masterpiece. Finding Dory is still on track for its fall 2015 release, but of course everything has been kept under wraps.

So Much Space...

In this age of digital means of watching films and entertainment, some have worried (myself included) that physical media would be on its way out by around 2015. Blu-ray Disc has been around since 2006, but it's battled with the likes of Netflix and Vudu recently. Now, as an avid Disney fanatic, I've been noticing a decline in the quality of their Blu-ray releases... Even the prestigious Diamond Editions have been lacking in some way.
