Sausage Day

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's R-rated animated send-up of today's animated films, Sausage Party, has been given a release date...

Originally thought to be a summer 2015 release, it was announced today that the film will be released on June 3, 2016. While I'm not too keen on having to wait two years for the film, I understand that it probably needed more time. The animation will be produced by Nitrogen Studios up in Canada and it has one hell of a cast. One that consists of the likes of Jonah Hill, James Franco, Kristin Wiig, Edward Norton, Salma Hayek and several others...

As someone who really enjoyed the duo's outrageous This Is The End, I'm looking forward to this. Yes, it'll most likely be raunchy and tasteless, but if it's well-written and smart, I'll be happy. The plot is absurd, but thankfully so. It'll be interesting to see how the studio will anthropomorphize the various food items, and what the animation style will look like.

If successful, it could help create a market for adult feature animation... Or it'll convince studios to invest in raunchy derivatives that aren't "adult" or "mature", therefore pushing adult animation back ten years in America. I've been keeping an eye on this one.

Are you looking forward to this film? Sound off below!
