The Big Heroes [UPDATE]

Apparently these are leaked, but here we have posters showing the six crime-fighters who make up the main cast of Walt Disney Animation Studios' Big Hero 6!

Okay, before I comment on the designs or anything, these posters raise a lot of questions… And people have already pointed out some issues…

First off, Honey Lemon. She has Rapunzel's face, either that or the face highly resembles hers. One thing you'll notice if you've been following this movie (meaning: coming across all the leaked stuff, all the reveals), four of these posters contain the poses we saw on both this…

And this…

Notice how Hiro, Honey Lemon and Gogo Tomago's poses are different. Honey Lemon also looks a bit different too. The outfit is the same, but the face does look a wee bit different on that cube. Gogo pretty much is identical to what's on the poster. Baymax's chest-piece has white dots (bolts?), those aren't present in the trailer… However, it is possible that the design used in the trailer is a preliminary one (think Cars' first teaser) or he gets an upgrade later on in the film. The blurry first look pic has the dots as well…

Also, recent evidence showed that two characters' names were shortened: Wasabi No-Ginger and Fredzilla. According to Stitch Kingdom, the names were changed to Wasabi and Fred. But if these posters are real, they contradict that announcement. I'm not sure whether to call these real or not, because I didn't see Disney officially unveil them.

Could this be the Frozen and Good Dinosaur situation all over again? Remember these?

Those versions of Anna and Elsa looked very close to their final versions, and they were even used on merchandise. It's possible that Honey Lemon won't have a Rapunzel-esque face in the final film, and there may be other minor differences. Remember, Disney didn't even leak that blurry Big Hero 6 character mural so these six posters - no matter how good they look - could be fake. Also not the JPosters.com.ar mention on each. Those Good Dinosaur posters were assembled from different things (on the banner one, if you look closely, you'll see a piece of concept art for the film that was never revealed before), but I always wondered…

Where did these poster-makers get the artwork? Again, those poses of Anna and Elsa were actually used on merchandise and that is definitely Arendelle in the background. Also, Arlo and Spot in the Good Dinosaur posters really resemble the concept artwork versions that were shown at D23. The foliage in the below poster is taken from the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 poster, and the whole thing looks fake. So if these posters are fake, where did the makers get that artwork? Where did they get those poses? It's been boggling my mind since the day the Frozen posters leaked…

I think they could be fake…

  • Each poster says "In Cinemas November 7 in 3D". North American posters for Disney films rarely say "In Cinemas", UK posters do that. The UK doesn't get this film until February 2015 (and I'm incredibly sorry for reminding you about that), and the posters here in the states normally say "In Theaters" or just show the release date.
  • Honey Lemon looking a bit different in her poster, more Rapunzel-esque.
  • Baymax looking a bit different, too.
  • The names… Though we don't know if Disney actually shortened those names or not.

I can't quite say yet, but for the designs that seem real, they are awesome. The suits are colorful, the characters look a bit anime-esque but also Disney-esque at the same time. For the record, I won't mind if Honey Lemon looks like Rapunzel - as long as she's differentiated enough, I'll be okay. A fine blend. Again, it's like Atlantis: The Lost Empire and how it went for a bold new style. However, unlike that film, this epic should have a great story, great character work and good writing all-around. The executives that didn't let Atlantis and several others be good films aren't at Disney anymore…

I'm very impressed, no shock there. Hopefully we get real official character posters from Disney soon.

What do you think of the designs? Do you think these posters are real or fake? Sound off below!

A rather revealing tweet from WDAS layout artist Tyler Kupferer...

So it looks like the designs may not be final… The plot thickens…

I must have poor eyesight. Below the "November 7" thing, there's really small text saying "This Material Was Not Approved by Disney"...
