Leak of Ultron [UPDATED]

Even though it's supposed to premiere next Tuesday with the newest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the teaser for Avengers: Age of Ultron has leaked…

But now it has been pulled, and I won't post it if it's put back up because Disney is already after the sites. Dig for it in the meantime…

Never mind! Disney and Marvel caved…

Anyways, I'm simply reviewing it because I've reviewed other Marvel teasers. This is a real 180 from the other Phase 2 trailers. It's even different from the rather rough teasers for Iron Man 3 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Iron Man 3's teaser made Tony Stark's latest adventure look like it was going to be a bleak one filled with things going wrong at every corner, with no humorous bone in its body. The latter pretty much told us, "It's Cap in the modern world and shit is going down", complemented by a thriller vibe. Iron Man 3 turned out to be a witty detective film with very little gloom, Winter Soldier was pretty much what the teaser said it would be.

This teaser on the other hand… It's not only pretty chaotic and lacking in humor, it's also creepy. Ultron, I think, will be the first truly terrifying villain in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film. The amount of terror and violence he is going to cause already looks like it'll eclipse Loki's reign of terror on New York City. Ultron and his army aren't going to be pulling punches here. We see Iron Man take on a pretty vicious Hulk in the Hulkbuster armor, action scenes of the other Avengers, all set to a very unsettling rendition of 'I've Got No Strings'… It's pretty much a compact version of the Comic-Con trailer, but without the funny bit where everyone is at the party trying to lift Mjinor.

I'm sure the finished film will have its funny bones, since it's both Marvel, but the teaser definitely hints that the Avengers' next battle won't be pretty. While the first film's battle had us on the edge of our seats cheering on our heroes and laughing like mad, I think this film's battle will have us shocked. We'll be unsure of the fates of the Avengers and the world, even though we're well aware that Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are obviously going to live, along with most of the others. It might be nerve-wracking, even a bit scary.

Ultron looks like a real force to be reckoned with. He's not flamboyant and deliciously evil like Loki is, nor is he the comically pouty, boo-hiss Ronan, or any other villain in the MCU filmography. A robot who thinks destroying all of humanity will save Earth, and he seemingly won't be a humorous villain either. It seems as if Marvel really dialed up the dark here…

But knowing them, the film probably won't be too, too much like that teaser. Sure, it'll get dark. It'll get crazy. It'll get heavy… There will probably be a lot of levity to go along with that, too. It looks massive, epic, dark, even a bit creepy… Just in time for Halloween, too.

Marvel has probably done it again. What did you think of the teaser?

  1. Ok, so it looks like Natasha and Bruce are having intimate moments? Thor dropping his hammer in despair? Capts shield breaks? Wanda and Quicksilver??! XD

And I saw a ballet scene, indicating they'll talk about Black Widows past in Russia. And the geography itself is very global. Very smart move, considering global box office is the source of success currently.
The CG looks amazing!!!!! Lucasfiln stated that Avengers 2 will have the most CG perfections than other Marvel films, and this showsm Hulk looks real!
And Ultron. Gosh, I got chills the moment he walked in and huge goosebumps when he started chanting. He's terrifying. Hopefully he'll be as great a villain as Loki, albeit a different one.

    I can't really wait...

  2. A thought: if Marvel's going for a darker mood with this movie--essentially doing what DC traditionally does in its films-- is it possible that we might see DC make more Marvel-like films in the future as a response?
