2014 Comic-Con Thoughts

Greetings from Savannah, folks! I am able to share my thoughts on the big deal itself while it's all happening… Marvel Studios' presentation at Comic-Con! Like the last year's post, I'll be updating this as news trickles out via sites like Screen Rant and their live feeds on Twitter. Credit all goes to them for the news…

Shuffle, Shuffle, Shuffle

It figures the minute I talk about how many 2016 releases and such will move, we are seeing movement right now…

Filling Up

Paramount certainly had to do something about their animation situation years ago. The deal with DreamWorks was set to end in 2012 with the release of Rise of the Guardians, and it did. Once Paramount learned that DreamWorks would no longer be producing films for them to distribute, they needed another studio… So they started their own!

2016 is 2015

The problem with 2016 is that many of the movies have very questionable release dates, and many of the big tentpole/event films open way too close to each other. If 2015 taught us anything, it’s that a lot of these movies will end up moving.

Predicament

Last month, DreamWorks rolled out a packed slate. Filling in dates that Fox already claimed for animated releases from that studio, Blue Sky and Fox Animation (and possibly Reel FX if they are willing to team up again after this autumn's The Book of Life), they determined which films would come out when.

The Amazing Sinking Ship

Sums it all up...

Though a lot of this is rumor-mill and insider stuff, Sony's Amazing Spider-Man franchise is apparently in trouble. Big trouble…

Age of Musicals

Many are asking if animated musicals will dominate now that Disney has scored a massive gargantuan success with Frozen. I've gotten this question before too from a fellow reader or maybe two, and I think that animated musicals will indeed be a commonplace thing in the coming years… That is, if future musicals are done right.

The Inevitably Superb Japanese Trailer

The Japanese trailer for Big Hero 6 is finally here, and no shock, it's excellent…

A Valuable Lesson

I'm sure a lot of you are expecting me to talk about the recent controversies in Animationland… Namely Ed Catmull's involvement in a wage-fixing cartel that screwed over hard-working artists and animators…

Final Prediction Regarding Some DreamWorks Films

As you all may know, I've been rooting for DreamWorks lately. I mean, I always do considering that they are one of the animation giants on the market that often makes good films, but they have been going through some tough times as of late. I had recently written some ideas and suggestions, things I'd personally like to see them try out to keep their future feature films successful…
