LAIKA's Big Fourth: 'Kubo and The Two Strings' Teaser Showcases An Epic Scope

It's finally here, a teaser for LAIKA's fourth film... Kubo and the Two Strings!

As I've said in the previous post, Kubo and the Two Strings looks to be LAIKA's biggest film in to date. It's Japanese folklore-inspired story of a young boy taking on supernatural threats and gods sounds like something that's much bigger in scope than their previous three films put together. Technically, it looks like a masterpiece already. It's LAIKA, so that is expected.

The teaser itself is short, sweet, and to the point. Usually Focus puts together great teasers for LAIKA's films, and this one is no exception. It's more of a showcase than anything, simply showing all the effort the studio put into this feature. The film appears to be more of an action epic, rather than a spooky horror-tinged adventure a la ParaNorman and Coraline, nor an eccentric romp like The Boxtrolls.

Next year is going to be one heck of a year for feature animation, I believe. With this, two new Disney Animation films, Sausage Party, Kung Fu Panda 3, Finding Dory, the US wide releases of films like Anomalisa and The Little Prince... That's already a very strong line-up. Of course, I was on board since the day the picture was announced. LAIKA's three films in, and all of them have been more than impressive, so I don't really need to say any more...

What did you think of the teaser?
