New Fish Faces: 'Finding Dory' Concept Art Shows Two Characters
Well, we've seen these two characters before, actually... But the artwork hints at something else entirely...
Those who kept up on the D23 announcements a few months ago have already seen the two characters that Pixar "revealed" today: Whale shark Destiny and beluga whale Bailey...
The new image, a piece of concept art, has them looking cartoonier than what we see above.
It was said at the D23 that Dory has a dream where she sees her past, and that it'll be rendered in 2D. Perhaps this isn't concept art, but rather an idea of what that flashback will look like, if not a still from that sequence. This year, Pixar did two rare art shifts. (Basically when the animation style of the movie changes to suit a certain scene or moment. Think the 2D flashbacks in DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda 2.) Inside Out had the inventive Abstract Thought sequence, The Good Dinosaur had the scene where Arlo and Spot hallucinate off of fermented berries.
Anyways, like Dory, these two faces have their own issues. Bailey (voiced by Ty Burrell) has trouble with his sonar abilities, Destiny (voiced by Kaitlin Olson) can't swim straight, on top of the fact that she thinks she's more of a great white shark than anything. Really nothing new here, news-wise, other than the image. See, I want to know what characters Idris Elba and Dominic West (The Wire) are playing!
What do you think of the concept art? Are you looking forward to Finding Dory? Sound off below!
