The Bricked Crusader: 'Lego Batman Movie' Teaser Debuts

Holy bricks, Batman! It looks we have our first look at The Lego Batman Movie, just in time for the release of Batman v Superman...

The teaser is - as expected - lots of fun, promising an irreverent adventure in the spirit of The Lego Movie. Visually, the film looks like the antithesis to Batman v Superman, it's extremely colorful and also very pretty to look at, and seems to draw from multiple iterations of the Caped Crusader. The little pokes at the character's rich history are already on display here. I'm particularly excited to see how it tackles all the different adaptations, if it does at all. I'd love to see pokes at everything from the 40s serials to the current Batman films/shows/DTV films. You also gotta love how they mentioned all of the theatrical Batman feature films in the opening.

Not much to say, other than it looks like a fun, good time. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller may not be directing, but Robot Chicken alumnus Chris McKay (and also animation director of Lego Movie) is more than the fellow for the job. Hopefully Seth-Grahame Smith's script hits in the ways The Lego Movie hit, and that it's its own unique thing.

What did you think of the teaser? Are you looking forward to this spin-off? Sound off below!

  1. Inb4 Moana teaser trailer! I reckon that'll show up before Finding Dory, unless we're lucky and it plays before The Jungle Book.

  2. Compared to the LEgo Movie trailer this was very underwhelming.
