After quite a long wait, the trailer for Warner Animation Group's second feature Storks - produced mainly at Sony Pictures ImageWorks - is here!
As expected, it looks like a lot of fun, despite how slipshod the trailer editing is. (The norm for American animated movie trailers, noise and gags and all.)
Definitely very zany and Looney Tunes-esque, but yet a bit of its own thing. It seems to be a combination of things, actually: The what-if premise, the silly comedy-adventure romp with a dose of heart (we learn the main human Tulip is an orphan looking for her family), the madcap cartoony laughfest. The awkward opening almost seems like a send-up of all those conventions, and if anything, the whole story arguably calls for an irreverent tone.
Either way, it looks to be something cool. I don't quite think the trailer succeeds entirely, but what I've heard about the film itself and other things (such as Doug Sweetland and Nicholas Stoller directing), coupled with the better parts of this preview, I'm looking forward to this one. Like The Lego Movie before it, it could surprise in many ways... If not be a bit of a dark horse.
What say you?
