Oceanic Epic: Japanese Teaser for 'Moana' Amazes

As expected, this Japanese teaser for Walt Disney Animation Studios' next is lovely... Even at a tiny running time...

Here, we truly get to see how much of a character the ocean itself is, as reported many times before...

Everything. The water, the color, the art direction, the music, the animation itself... It's a mini-masterpiece in itself. Very little dialogue, too... This is the imaginative storytelling that I want to see coming from Disney's animation. While the stateside teaser for this film was surprisingly very well put-together, this one (bad pun incoming) blows it out of the water. As usual with Japanese marketing for Disney's releases.

If the rest of the film matches the beauty of these scenes visually and tonally, we're in for a real treat. Directors Ron Clements and John Muskers, to me, have a super-consistent track record. Even their most compromised features - Hercules and Treasure Planet - still ended up being very good films. Moana, no shock, looks to stand tall with their best and maybe even Disney Animation's best. After Zootopia, it has a lot going for it.

What say you?
