Purebred: Wes Anderson's Stop-Motion 'Isle of Dogs' Gets Poster and Release Date

Now that's something to bark about...

Wes Anderson's new stop-motion film, Isle of Dogs, has a poster...

... and a release date!

That's right, in less than a year! That's actually the week after the release of another independent animated dog movie, Fun Academy's Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero. Going by the image... Looks like it will be about a World War II fighter who crash lands on the island.

From the looks of it, it won't be your typical animated dog picture. Of course, if you know a thing or two about Wes Anderson, you'd already know that.

Anyways, I'm excited nonetheless. Fox Searchlight's distributing, which means it'll probably get a small release at best, though it may expand, who knows. 20th Century Fox released his previous stop-motion film, Fantastic Mr. Fox, doing a gradual rollout. Sadly, it didn't amount to much. Maybe this could be a small success.

What say you?

  1. If it's about a World War 2 fighter, then you'll have two dog movies about each World War opening a week apart from each other!

  2. For what it says in the description of the movie's official Twitter account is about a boy in a long journey to find his dog
