Still in the Clouds: Paul McCartney's 'High in the Clouds' Lands New Studio

The animated adaptation of Paul McCartney's children's book High in the Clouds is still brewing...

Up until now, the film was set to be handled by a company called RGH Entertainment, but that all went south after - according to Deadline - their American offices got locked up. Now, the oldest studio in the world has picked it up... Gaumont. This will be their first animated feature.

An adaptation of this tale of woodland animals that flee their land after it's developed, the film has been on the drawing board since 2009. Currently, Cody Cameron (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2) is set to direct the picture with Shrek Forever After scribe Josh Klausner handling writing duties. Or are they?

When this picture will finally get traction, I don't know... But I'm a Beatlemaniac, and I love Paul McCartney's work (Ram is a great album, listen to it sometime!), so I'm excited to see a feature-length animated film with his stamp all over it. Paul has done numerous shorts and works in his post-Beatles career, from Rupert and the Frog Song to very surreal, out-there things like The Oriental Nightfish (based on a then-unreleased outtake from the Band on the Run album sessions).

What say you?

  1. Gaumont, eh? Well, it's better than Lionsgate, amirite?
