Where Are You?: Warner Delays Animated Scooby-Doo Movie

Yes, that's right, Warner Animation Group's new take on the cowardly canine is no longer opening next year. According to Variety, not only has it been pushed back, but apparently it carries a different title. They refer to it as Scooby, even though it was known as S.C.O.O.B. up until this point.

The Scooby-Doo movie is still set to be all-animated, and the same people are attached, it is now set to open on May 15, 2020. No word on whether this will still kickstart an animated Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe or not.

Oddly enough, the article mentions that Variety reported on Dax Shepard's involvement in the film as co-director and writer... But then they mention that only Cervone is directing and that Matt Lieberman wrote the script, but he wrote the script a while back. Is Shepard possibly out? After all, his CHiPs revival, also a WB release, went belly-up. Who knows, it's all a little murky right now.

Anyways, perhaps the delay is for the better. Warner seemed rather hush-hush on this one recently, but they're also very hush-hush on Smallfoot, which has now taken Scooby's old place... Sort of. That's now set for September 14, 2018, just a week before Goosebumps 2. Storks 2.0, it seems.

We know much more about The Lego Movie Sequel, due out in February 2019. It's all very weird, but I think all will be worked out eventually.

What say you?

  1. Well, damn! That was surprising! I wonder if WAG will try to cram something in between both LEGO 2 and Scooby.

  2. Maybe they're making room for the Bone movie.

  3. Well they need to try to beat Zombie Island, which is very hard.
