Packing Up

... and going somewhere else.

Folks, readers, animation fans...

It's been a long, sometimes thrilling, sometimes unpredictable 6 1/2 years...

Don't panic.

I'm not ceasing animation commentary and opinions. I'll always have something to say about the industry I'm working my way into. That talk just won't be here. I am ending this site.

This "Kyle's Animated World" place is no longer my animated world. It is only a blogger blog, after all. I wanted to shed a lot of weight, now that I'm a college graduate. I've long given up the process of doing a post for every news story, or a recap every week or so. I'm quite content with waiting a little while and forming my thoughts on the recent animation happenings, but I feel that it isn't enough. I feel it's time to move on.

The current plan is to have all animation commentary posted on my personal blog, which is on WordPress, it's called Kyle Loves Animation and More. Obviously, there's way more to that place than just animation talk, so if you plan on following me there, be prepared for that. It isn't a "news" place, and I will post these sort-of roundups sporadically. When I'm ready, when I'm up for it. Writing about what's going on in animation right now has always been fun, but it's always been a hobby. Much like my 11 years on YouTube, it isn't my career or future. It is only a thing I enjoy on the side.

I started this blog back in February of 2012. What was happening then? We came off of a strong 2011, but that year was kind of bogged down by box office issues. During this time, we were awaiting the next mainstream release in the form of Illumination's Lorax movie, and the English dub of Studio Ghibli's The Borrower Arrietty (titled The Secret World of Arrietty for us yanks) was just coming out. Movies like Aardman's The Pirates!, Laika's ParaNorman, DreamWorks' Madagascar 3 and Rise of the Guardians, Pixar's Brave, Disney Animation's Wreck-It Ralph, and Sony's Hotel Transylvania were mere months away. In February 2012, I was still in community college. I had started attending in fall 2010, right after graduating high school. Personal issues and circumstances had affected my early college years, and I had spent many semesters simply doing general studies. That autumn, I had switched over to a state university and a year later determined my major. Some complications have made the process longer, hence me getting out of there just now!

Over six years later, the animation industry has both changed and stayed the same in many ways. It's always been a lot to take in, it's never easy to keep up with. When not doing classwork or personal projects, or doing other life things, I'd come here and talk animation. It's been fun, but exhausting. This past semester was particularly climactic, hence me whittling down the amount of posts. Now that it and my summer semester are over, a new life has begun. Personal writing will take the center stage, but as someone who's currently forming a path into animation, you'll always hear something about the medium from me.

That's not over. This place, and the older me... the older, stressed, busy college student me... That's over. The door has been closed.

See you on the other side...

Mid-July Roundup

You know... I did say in the previous roundup/recap that I plan on doing these once a month, but my schedule cleared up a little bit, so I decided to... Shall I say, sneak one out? Anyways, the mid-July roundup is here!
